Anchor Scripture:
New King James Version Isaiah 12:2-3; “Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; ‘For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.’ ” Therefore, with joy, you will draw water From the wells of salvation.”
The scripture in John 3:16 reveals the extent of God’s love for us as He sacrificed His only begotten Son for our sins; thereby delivering us from the power of darkness and hath translated us into kingdom of his dear son; In whom we have redemption through his blood, even to the forgiveness of sins.
Salvation is by God’s grace and an undeserved gift of God to us. It is only available through Faith in Jesus Christ as portrayed in Ephesians 2:5,8, and Acts 4:12.
Our Heavenly Father knowingly full well that without the gift of salvation to mankind, it will be difficult for us to fulfill His plan and purpose for us.
So He became our salvation, strength, and song so that we might trust in Him and not be afraid of whatever challenge the world throws at us. Isaiah 12:2.
Out of God’s love for us, He made available the wells of salvation for us to draw water needed at each stage of our lives; Isaiah 12:3 expresses this truth.
Further, you will recall the story of the Samaritan woman and her encounter with Jesus Christ at the well of Jacob in the book of John 4:7-15. In verse 14 Christ told her whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him, shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
The water Jesus Christ was referring to that he will give the woman was the HOLY SPIRIT which will abide with her forever and not the type of water from Jacob’s well.
In the same Chapter in verse 24, Jesus Christ made us know that God who is our salvation is a Spirit and those that will worship Him must worship in Spirit and in truth and this requires the help of the Holy Spirit at all times.
The scriptures in John 7:37-39 also reveal that if any man thirst, let them come unto me and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of the living water which is the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is a joyous spirit and it takes a joyful heart to activate the Holy Spirit in us in order to receive from God. We all know that joy is one of the fruit that the Holy Spirit bears and that is why it is required while we are drawing from his wells of salvation.
We have established that God is our salvation and the water is the Holy Spirit, therefore how do we recognize the “well(s)” in which the Water of Salvation is been drawn?
Let us assume we are crossing a desert or passing through a wilderness, we all know that there is limited or no water in this region, so it will not be enough to have a well at the beginning or at the end of the Journey alone; otherwise, someone might drop dead of thirst in the desert.
At each stage of the journey in the desert or wilderness, there is a need for water to be taken in order to survive and this water can only be drawn from the well. So there is a need for a well to be available at every stage of the journey in order to access water.
From this analogy, it is evident that at every stage of our lives, we will need a well to draw water from in order to get to our desired destination according to the plans and purposes of God for our lives.
Therefore, at every stage of our lives “water” is needed to be drawn from a well and the well to draw the water from is the place and time when you walk in fellowship with God. Interestingly God is always ready to make this “water” available for us to draw from His “Wells of Salvation.
In essence, the wells of salvation are required to provide enough water for our life journey because our God is inexhaustible and His supplies are deep and inexhaustible to draw from and sustain us throughout our lifetime.
How do we draw water from the wells of salvation?
- Constantly seek the word of God
- Embrace faith in God’s word
- Engage the Grace of God.
- Living a life full of praise and worship to God
- Spread the Good News.
