Fatherhood is Responsibility. Written by Alo Tosin Segun.

FATHERHOOD IS RESPONSIBILITY

Being a Father is not a title, it is a function and a call to responsibility.

Father’s education is the primary and first education every child should receive before the informal education. This education from the father of the family will serve as the foundation in which other knowledge will be built on.

The quality of this foundation will determine the building to erect on it.

Fatherhood education is tied to family leadership and what is leadership? Leadership is simply responsibility, service and influence. These are the functions of the FATHER as the leader of the family.

From biblical perspective God placed father Adam in the garden of Eden to take responsibility and accountable for his family and home. He then gift him Eve to be his helpmate whilst father Adam carried out the responsibilities saddled upon him.

At the point when there was a disobedience from Adam and Eve, God demanded for an answer from Father Adam because the mandate of responsibility of the garden was given to him. Adam was also assigned with the responsibility of giving names to all that God created. By this, God has replicated his fatherhood nature of taking responsibility into every man.

Fathers are to take CHARGE and not EXCUSE like Father Adam did.

Family leadership is the sole responsibility of the Father. The family play an  important role in the awareness, building and strategic development of social and cultural values of every child.

Fathers should strive for family stability which is the bedrock of social harmony and economic progress. And homes are loosing track of stability in our society today, because many fathers are not available to own up to their roles and responsibilities.

The devastating increase in the social vices such as drug addiction, cultism, prostitution, kidnapping, terrorism etc among  youths and children in Nigeria tends to the missing relationship between children and  fathers.

If a father fails to  affirm, protect, direct and show love to his child, that child shall experience instability. Fathers are natural leaders and taking up  family leadership responsibility will reduce the menace of social vices in the society, and  the problem will always be tackled from the source.

Everyone is a product of one family, which forms a community and community grows into a society. Tackling the challenge from each family which is the source will surely yield good result.

Fathers must endeavour to raise their children with Godly values to influence the society positively at large.
