About Us

Thanks for learning more about who we are and why we exist.

We Are a Purpose Driven Church

The Captain’s House is structured in line with the 5 purposes of the universal church.

Fellowship

Our church incorporates God’s family into our fellowship.

We provide a warm, authentic community, welcoming new believers into the body of Christ through baptism. Being in God’s family means we are not alone; we have each other for support. You weren’t just meant to believe; you were made to belong.

Discipleship

Our church educates God’s people through discipleship. After someone has made a decision for Christ, it is our responsibility to develop them to spiritual maturity, teaching them to obey Christ and become more like him in their thoughts, feelings, and actions. This is God’s will for every believer.

Ministry

Our church demonstrates God’s love through ministry or service. Ministry is showing God’s love to others by meeting their needs and healing their hurts in the name of Jesus. We believe the church is to minister to all kinds of needs: spiritual, emotional, relational, and physical. Every time you reach out in love to someone else, you are ministering to them.

Evangelism

Our church communicates God’s Word through evangelism. We are ambassadors for Christ and believe it is our responsibility to share the Good News wherever we go. In fact, evangelism is more than our responsibility; it is our great privilege. As long as there is one person in the world who doesn’t know Christ, our church will continue to reach out.

Worship

Our church celebrates God’s presence in worship. It doesn’t matter if we’re by ourselves, with a small group, or with 1,000,000 people; any time we express our love to God, we’re worshiping. We believe worship shouldn’t be a religious duty. We worship God because we want to magnify and exalt his name.

Why are we planting this Church?

The Lord began to stir our hearts to plant The Captain’s House with these pieces of information:

Connection

In today’s World, people are largely disconnected from God and the church family; many are disconnected from people in general and left feeling overwhelmed, burdened, lonely, isolated, and hopeless. We long to connect the disconnected to a growing relationship with Jesus Christ, the Church, and their purpose.

Bridging the Gap

There is a need for a church community that connects people across racial divides. Many churches have experiential, cultural, and traditional blind spots and are unwilling to learn the culture, system, people, and environment they intend to influence. Apostle Paul expressed this in 1 Corinthians 9: 19-22 (MSG Translation) “… I have voluntarily become a servant to all to reach a wide range of people: religious, nonreligious, meticulous moralists, loose-living immoralists, the defeated, the demoralized—whoever. I didn’t take on their way of life. I kept my bearings in Christ—but I entered their world and tried to experience things from their point of view.”

Empowering and Equipping

The Church is losing the kingdom focus of empowering and equipping God’s people for effectiveness in ministry, career, and life enterprise. Many Christians are locked in their shell of unending struggles and survival while the strategic opportunities for impact remain unexplored. The greatest calling of church leadership is to unlock people’s potential for influence in the World (Ephesians 4:12, Matthew 5:14). We are out to create structures and systems that equip and empower people to find, develop and deplore their unique gifts in service of God and humanity. We must emphasize God’s Kingdom above and beyond “my church.”

Hope of the Resurrection

Sadly, identity crisis, depression, loneliness, mental health distress, and the likes regularly take the lives of people around us. This means that the hope for living a rich and fulfilled life in Christ is not yet reaching and impacting everyone in our local communities.

Obeying our Great Calling

Ironically, despite many wonderful churches doing great work, if every person decided to go to Church on any given Sunday, millions and billions of people would not have a seat. Simply put, there is not enough space for every person to hear the Gospel message of hope in our local communities.

Teach and Apply the Truth Of Scripture

Out of the 7.9 billion people living in the World, the Pew Research Centre’s global study says nearly 31% are Christians, but this number is in steady decline. In contrast, 16% of the World’s population has no religious affiliation. That means about 5.11 billion people are without a life-giving, culturally relevant church right now to teach and apply the truth of the Scripture to their daily lives. Churches are desperately needed in our local communities for the significant need to reach the lost in a major metropolitan thoroughfare.

Restore Family Structure

Finally, a major problem plaguing our World today is the lack of family structure. Too many families grow up without a father figure in the house which often leads to psychological issues later in life. A father figure in a home is the very first point everyone experiences and practices leadership. Our vision is to proffer solutions to this problem through the ministry outreach called “Fathers’ Summit.” This is a meeting of men and women of all age groups focusing on Prayer, Worship, Communion, and Networking. We believe strongly in the power of prayer and the blessings that a praying father can secure for their children and their future. Beyond prayers, we are also providing mentoring sessions through our Network groups for young men and ladies to learn very early in life to take responsibility and the task of being a man over a home, both as the provider and the protector. We are trusting God the Fathers’ Summit will soon be a movement across local communities, and we hope to see a sharp decline in the statistics of children growing up without a father figure in the house.
